What Life Actually Looks Like as a Medical Student in Georgia

We are going to be honest with you, because that is more useful than a brochure. Here is what day-to-day life is genuinely like for Indian medical students in Georgia.

Cost of Living (Monthly Estimates in INR)

Here's the unfiltered picture.

     Expense         Monthly Cost

  • Accommodation (shared flat)

    Food (cooking at home)

    Food (eating out occasionally)

    Local transport

    Utilities (electricity, internet)
    Miscellaneous
    Total estimate

  • Rs. 8,000 - 14,000

    Rs. 5,000 - 8,000

    Rs. 2,000 - 4,000

    Rs. 1,500 - 2,500

    Rs. 2,000 - 3,500
    Rs. 2,000 - 4,000

    Rs. 20,000 - 36,000/month

These are realistic figures based on current student experiences. Tbilisi is more expensive than smaller cities like Kutaisi or Batumi.

  • Safety Georgia is a safe country by any international standard. Tbilisi has very low violent crime rates. Indian women students live and study here comfortably. The Georgian police are visible and responsive. That said, like any city, basic personal safety awareness applies.
  • Indian Food and Community Tbilisi has Indian restaurants, South Asian grocery stores, and a well-established Indian student community. You can find dal, rice, spices, and familiar vegetables. You will not starve or feel culturally isolated.
  • Climate Georgia has four real seasons. Tbilisi summers are warm (25-35°C). Winters drop to around -2 to -8°C with occasional snowfall. You will need warm clothing — coats, thermals, boots. Most students adjust within their first winter.
  • Communication Internet connectivity in Georgia is good. Local SIM cards are cheap and widely available at the airport and in the city. Calling home via WhatsApp and Jio international plans is straightforward.
  • City Life Tbilisi is a genuinely beautiful, modern city with cafes, malls, parks, and a growing food scene. There is plenty to do on weekends. Batumi is a beach city on the Black Sea — popular for student trips.
